Mt St Helens

Nearly 37 years have past since the major eruption...

May 18, 1980 - A day that will be long remembered, especially for us in the Pacific Northwest. I lived just 3 hrs away and I awoke to a world of gray, ash fell like snow from the sky.  The news carried unbelievable photos and videos of massive destruction, as trees, houses and people were swept away in an instant. With help from re-plantings of natural tree species the Mt St Helens National Forest is well on he path to recovery.  Plants, fowls, and animals have returned in abundance.
